Wow yeah...I completely forgot about the regional title last year. And your summer running program is very good. All 4 of those teams will be vying for that title.

yea, about summer runs for ERR. how structured are they? i mean, is there a day each week that they happen? same time each time? i've been thinking about doing the Fleet Feet running program that westminster road runners are doing, but with work and everything, their speratic times make it difficult.

Monday through Friday it is at 7:00 each night. Tonight there is a meeting of the board members of ERR and the parent that is taking the lead on the summer running program and they are going to set the schedule. It is very structured. They typically get 20 to 30 people a night (the beginning of the summer starts a little slower, the high school kids that run sometimes are still on their breaks). It's a great way to get a run in, cause you always have someone to run with. I try to get some runs in occasionally with them, when I can. We get a good number of alumni too. SC alumn Steve McClarin (spelling) came out last summer. He was an incredible runner (ran sub 16 in high school - even faster now).
I will try to get the schedule up as soon as ERR gets it to me. I think they said it will start on June 19th, but they may try to start it next week.
Fridays are also a fun day for them. They either have a pizza run (they run to someones house in the area, and have pizza waiting for the finishers), or they do some sort of game (poker runs, scavenger hunts, wild goose chases).

Oh, and for our college-bound runners (Colin), we get a few of those kids too. Frank Sisolak, Carl Henn, and Lindsay Shifflett were regulars on the runs last year as they prepared for College XC. We got a lot of other college kids too, most of which were more leisure runners now.
Colin - the CMAC, an affliate of ERR, has summer workouts for college-bound and post collegiate runners. Coach Renner from McDaniel organizes them, and its a great way to get ready for college cross country. They are appropriate workouts for you, nothing excessive, the type of things you should do getting ready for the fall season. I run with them in the summer. Only thing is, you have to accept that there will be a few girls that will beat you and let them help you. Jill Krebs (sub 17 5K PR), Diana Pool (sub 17 5K PR), Pam Maldeis (sub 3 hour marathoner), and Sherry Stick (about 18 flat 5K) have all come out, and Trisha Repsher used to come out to the workouts in the summer as well as a few others that you would probably know. Coach Renner is a great coach and will help you prepare for whatever goals you have now that you are a high school graduate.

Anybody can run with ERR, whether your in the club or not. It only cost $5 for a student to join the club, and there are different benefits to that (including discounts at some stores, access to their newsletter and other member-only areas on their website, and various things like that).

Coach, I'm planning on running with ERR this summer, but I'm not running for UMBC. I've decided to focus on my academics and leave running as a leisure thing. My plans are to run the Baltimore Half-Marathon again this year, and then keep doing races like that.

There is a group of Liberty alumni that decided this spring they were going to run a marathon or half marathon this fall. They plan to start up running with ERR to train for it. You might be able to join them. Don't know if you know Walter Bender, Pete Lester or Bryan Mull.

I believe SC boys will do very well this year, and be right in the mix as the top team in the county. We have a solid 5 runners who I am hoping be able to come on strong this season.
SC girls team should also do quite well. Although the loss of Warfield does hurt the team, I believe Powell and Sykes will make up for her loss.

South Carroll is definitely going to be improved next year, and very well could be a top 4 team. It's just too bad they will have to go up against two teams that could very well challege for a state title in FSK and Liberty. I don't count them out, but they definitely have a challenge ahead of them.

I'm not doubtin you sc... but in cross country, you'll need more than 5 runners to have success, just a tip to hopefully get you guys back up there like a couple of years ago...

I agree that you need more then 5 runners to make a great team, but i still see success in SC's future. And since they only score the top five from each school at meets as long as our team can stay healthy and avoid injury I believe our team should do well.
