Century could surprise people this year with Dawson, Wachter, Zynda, Hughes, Hughes, Ratliff (freshman). Just throwing that out there. All of these guys have a lot of potential and could make a big splash this year.

I think Century has a good group of young runners and has a bright future. I'm not so sure if i'm running this year or not. I'm not positive, (Colin, correct me if i'm wrong) but it seems like we are going to have another new coach with no experience. I'm having a lot of fun running with my old coach right now and my times are starting to get down where i want them to be, so i'm not sure i'm gonna go back and run for Century. (This is Brent)

Brent, who are you running for if not for century? are you just doing like club running or something?
as for century's team, i think that those guys all have potential but unfortunately for your school, like brent has already mentioned above, a new coach will not be a great advantage. not saying that it will completely hold you back, some great runners have s*** for coaches but still do great. i hope you get a winner. i think the county on average will be a lot closer than any of the last few years. teams "may" not be as strong, but competition will make it a much more fun race to take part in.

Well...Brent, there is a new coach. I don't know who it is though. Didn't know what your plans were, good luck with whatever it is you do.
Maybe they'll get lucky with the coaching. Who knows. It will be interesting. Hopefully we have someone who stays a while because there is some potential there.

You have some talented runners on your team, and as long as they are willing to work hard and push themselves to do better, then I don't see coaching as a problem.

It seems most teams in the county should be better next year. A team won't only need the talent, they will need to prepare (summer running) and have the desire to win. Even all three of those might not be enough - but you have to take the risk and be willing to take the fall. Carroll County could definitely have some of the better teams in the state - if the teams stay healthy and get everybody they hope out on the team.

Seems a lot of people coming back from what I read and teams shaping up. Look at the people coming back:
Century - Dawson?, Wachter, Zynda, Hughes, Hughes, Ratliff* FSK - Leathers, Welsh, Fearns, White, Holtz, Leathers Liberty - Liberatore, Cross, Dougherty, Hruch, Meadows, Kelsh NC - Becker, Dietz, Pagels, Murray, Unglesbee SC - Naper, Zamostny, Nenninger, Phillips, Boston, Martin Westminster - Dulaney, Sisler, McDaniels, Wilkins, Libdan Winters Mill - Beall, Frock, May-West, Hutchinson
* Freshman
Any other freshman that could make an impact?

Sisler, In eigth grade i ran club track for Owings Mills Track club in order to get into shape for soccer. I pretty much was awful. Freshman year i did outdoor track again to get into shape for soccer and decided to continue on with OMTC to get extra conditioning in. I entered a couple of races and ended up running 2:07/2:08 in my freshman year. I quit soccer and ran cross and track, had a couple of injuries but never really got the results i had hoped to get following my freshman year. This year i decided to go back and see if maybe i could get a little faster after my dismal indoor state meet run. In my first race this year i ran 62/60 for a 2:02 so i'm hoping i can keep dropping my time. I'm not sure if you know Dr. Vince Rollo, he is a big orthapedic around her. I know he saw Nick and Eric during cross country, he also did surgery on Dyron Johnson last year. He is my coach with assistance from Chris Gonzalez when he is in MD and not NY.

Wow, a 2:02 isnt bad at all. Negative splits too. thats really tough to do. ok, well, keep up the good work in whatever group you decide to keep running with. sounds like these guys know what they're doing and it looks like you could go sub 2 at almost any point now. congrats.

Sorry, I just don't think you have the guns to beat FSK. FSK's #1 and 2 are faster then your #1, FSK's #3 is faster then your #3, and FSK's #4 and 5 are faster then your #4. If FSK stays healthy, it will be hard for you to run with them - no offense, but they are just better then they were last year, and without Kelvey and Vana, you will not be better then last year.

Carrollcountyrun has a point jose. we do loose 2 of our top guys that were very important. however, i think that who we still have will step it up greatly. dulaney proved he could run at counties, regionals, and states placing 11th in the 3A state meet. Chris "pherman" mcdaniels did an amazing job at counties and kept it up at regionals. I thought i did fine in xc but since i did what i consider to be an amazing season in track, i think i can continue to stick with those guys. my mile time was only a few seconds off of leathers and welsh. yes i know the mile is only a third of the race in xc, but with buildinga good base this summer i think i can be more in the mix next year. and with 4 or 5 guys trying for 4th through 7th, we will have some great competition w/in the team and im sure that will push individuals. enough about westminster now, im done talking up my team, because look where it got us last year. good luck to everyone and get in your miles.

It's coming up quick... there is only 34 days left until the season begins. Then we will be able to get a true sense of which team will be the best in the county.
