Way too early to tell. The last two years there have been huge freshman contributions that have changed the shape of the county. It could happen again, or individuals may not be able to run, or an upperclassman gives up soccer. At this point, there are just too many factors. I think the county will be better this year, but its going to be hard to have a closer county then the one where it was seperated by a single pass with 10 meters to go.

I also think that the county as a whole will be much better this year.

This year should be very competitive for all the teams.
Above someone posted that the freshman have really changed the county in the past two years. I agree that they do have an impact, but I also think this impact is more heavily effected when it comes to the girls teams. Although there are acceptations to every rule, it seems to me that most freshman guys have more trouble staying up with the older runners.

Yes, usually its freshman girls that have the biggest impact, but that hasn't been the case the last 2 years. Think about the last 2 years - three guys made first team, two of the these finished 8th in the state championships -- Eric Liberatore, Arthur Leathers and Andrew Cross. These three guys didn't seem to have much trouble keeping up with their experienced counterparts and having a huge impact. This is rare, but somehow we have seen it 3 times now in 2 years. Could it happen again in the county? Too early to tell.

Don't know if this matters or not, but I know for a fact that the senior leathers is not running next year, I think he was keys #5 guy last year

Coach, last year there was another freshman who stepped up big. Carly Reed trailed Ashlee Horst at states the entire race and finished top 10 to help our girls become state runner-ups.
Oh, and check your PM's i responded to the one from a few days ago.

Maybe the incoming groups will make a big impact, they have for the last couple years as you've said.

Not that they won't have an impact, but each year the county improves, and each year it seems harder for them to have an impact. Consider this year 48 of the top 60 runners from the county in xc last year are returning. Where the year before 6 of the top 10 graduated and 10 of the top 16.
Definitely should result in a strong county, and one that you can't slack off too much or you will have a hard time keeping up come october.

True, and the more that these new recruits practice the closer that they will be to the returning runners.
