We are once again going to do the Meet Most Valuable Runners for any meet involving at least 2 teams from the county. In review, this is how it works: After each meet, I will post one boy and one girl as runner of the Meet Most Valuable Runner from Carroll County. I will also name a couple honorable Mention. When multiple teams from the county attend a meet, with multiple ranked runners in the race, I will name a "Meet Most Valuable Runner" for Carroll County and post it on the message board and the Carroll County Running Home Page. How will the Meet Most Valuable Runner be decided? The boy and girl that had the biggest point increase in the rankings will be that meets runner of the meet. This isn't a perfect system (cause some athletes are still establishing themselves) but since the rankings are starting to stabalize already it will show you who had the biggest improvement based on where they typically have finished. But note, the only way you can be named Meet Most Valuable Runner is if you are previously ranked. We too often always name the runner that wins the race as the one that had the best race, but we all know XC is a team sport, and it takes 5 to get a team score. The same athlete can not be name Meet Most Valuable Athlete 2 meets in a row (that they run in). The rankings are objective. To see how they are computed go to: How It Works
