I was looking at the results for this race and saw that the kids were running in the 12 minutes... and was waundering if this was really a XC race. I don't see how anyone could run three miles in 12 minutes.

The course for the Manhatten is 2.5 miles.

and, assuming this race is a high-level race (see: Alison Smith, Andrew Revelle, Graham Bazell entered) and has many of the best runners in the northeastern area, there will be fast times.
