Congrats to Key... I wasn't there of course, but it looked as if they had a pretty dominating victory.

Is Colin Fearns not running anymore this season?
Also, appears the afternoon course at MVAL was about 20-30 seconds faster than the morning races. The combined times show a number of Piedmont runners ahead of Chesapeake runners for the first time all season. Guess counties will show if that's true or not.

Counties should be a pretty fun race. I like the course. I think coach said something about chainging it a bit to spread out the pack a bit more before the woods on the first mile though? Not quite sure yet.

Colin's not hurt, he just missed this last race, but he'll be there at counties, regionals, and states

i hope he changes the course because going over the bridges during the first mile is pretty hard when you are in a big pack.

Just to add to what Colin said Congrats again to Key they were impressive again, although it was funny watching Welsh at the last turn not figuring out where to go

commenting on the change in the course, is that a definate? in a county of 7 schools it wont be such a "large pack" as is being said. even in the 20+ team race SC invite it was quite spread out by the woods section and changing the course now appears to be a cheap and unfair tactic by SC to increase their odds of placing better. maybe, maybe not, but like i said changing the course is pointless in such a SMALL race. 49 runners given almost 800m before the woods is quite a spread if you ask me. dont bother harassing me about my harsh accusation about sc above. im just giving a posibilty for people to discuss.
as for the reason why chesapeake conference times were slower, i'd have to say that the conditions were most likely a factor. i obviously didnt stay for the later races but i'd assume that it was less windy and more dried out.
also, at least for me, a factor why i did bad is because i ran a stupid first mile. following dylan bernard at a 5:10 first mile killed me and i mentally quit at that point.
now on to counties

I think I would agree about the course during the chesapeake races. I was there from first thing in the morning till just after the start of the piedmont race and the wind did die down and I think the wind also helped to dry things out a little bit for later in the day. The sun coming out helped too.

In the first mile of the JV race, the wind was still pretty strong, it was mostly off and on. I think the course was more dry, but in some parts it was torn apart, you had some trouble getting good footing.

sizzlin sizzler: the course WILL NOT be changed, and will be run as it was for the South Carroll Invite.

The SC course wont be changed, the comment about the course was just a general suggestion by a parent after looking at the JV race at the SC invite. The course will remain as it was athe teh SC invitational and no team should have an advantage over the other other that ability, which isn't unfair.
My comment about the second mile was just something I'd like to do (and probably will do over the summer) because downhills are on a hill like that are just one of my favorite things to run.
Sorry if there was any confusion or misunderstandings. As I said, the course will remain how it was at the invitational and will most likely not be changing in the near future.
