Liberty boys are so good at this. Their top 4 at states ran within 7 places of each other. No other team had 4 runners do that. Also, their number 7 beat every other 2A boy's number 7 except Glenelg. Now if they could just shift that pack up a little!

So maybe pack running is over-rated....

Personally, I hate pack running. I think trying to stick with one guy at your ability level is good, but more than that isn't good. 3 or more runners with the same abilities? no way. Each person needs to run a smart race, and they should all have at least slightly different strategies.
It works in some cases, but I personally have never liked it, and my teammates never really did either. Just my two cents.

I personally could never do it. Its always better to run your race than to stick with someone for the whole race. A lot of time it will lead people to only worry about finishing faster than a teammate, or keep you from making a move on other people ahead of you.

I like the pack running, you just have to know how to do it... The reason we won states my junior year was because of back running... we only had one runner in the top 20 and that was 12th place... pack running helps motivate you I think and it pushes you more...
