I built a Carroll County Outdoor Track & Field Championship Archive Page: www.carrollcountyrunning.com/Records/CarrollCountyOutdoorTrackandField.htmRight now I have results back to 2003. I will keep looking to get more results and adding them to this page. I have a page on there for the top 10 performances at the Carroll County Championships. Obviously right now it is for 2003 to 2008 only. I wll do the best I can to keep uncovering new results. If anybody has an old set of results or know someone that does, maybe they can get them to me (even it if it is a hardcopy, I am willing to type them up if you can fax it to me). Hopefully soon I will create one of these for Indoor Track. Does anybody know if they had County Championships in Indoor Track & field before 1994? |

I just want to say thanks to everybody that has already contributed to helping me with this site. I have gotten a lot of stuff up (if you haven't seen, the county records are up, 3 of the county schools have school records up, and one more is coming that I know of, I have a list of all the past county champions that I have been able to uncover so far, I have results from 11 of the past county championships in outdoor, from those 11 results I have a top 10 performance list from the county championships). I am still updating the state champions list with a lot of coaches help. There is a lot of people offering help, but I wanted to give a special thanks to: - Coach Johnson from NC - he has been typing up some of the results for me that he had,
- Coach Jim Shank (formal coach of Westminster & Winters Mill - he has been helping with updating the state champions list, and we will be looking through his old files for old results - he has a ton of stuff that is going to really help with this archive
- Mr. Seaman - principal at Westminster and former coach at FSK - he is going to be working with me to help later this summer, he coached for years with the very successful FSK program
Once I get everything I can, this will be a great resource for Carroll County Running. I have some other idea I will likely work on too (I will soon try to compile all the county xc results I can too). Happy Trails! |

I just got tons of stuff (and i mean files and files that could filled a whole filing cabinet) of results from Carroll County dating back to 1915!!
It will take me forever getting some of this stuff up. Not sure how I will got about it. I will try to just chip away, start with some good stuf (and throw in some random stuff here and there).
Just to give you something to chew on...
In 1927 there was 20 high schools in Carroll County. AT the county championships they had some odd events:
There was weight classes (80 pound class, 95 pound class, 115 pound class, junior unlimited and senior class)
Events in 1927:
100 yard dash, 440 yard dash, 880 yard dash, Running broad jump, running high jump, 8 pound shot put, soccer kick for distance, one mile relay
Then a bunch of other events are listed, really odd events:
flag relay
obstacle relay
run and catch relay
dodge ball
speed ball
field dodge ball
mixed dodge ball
touchdown pass ball
captain ball
volley ball
Personally, I think we need to bring some of these events back. Imagine dodgeball being the final event of the day, deciding who wins the county championship....

20 high schools in Carroll County?!! They must have been little one-room schoolhouses because there couldn't have been that may people here back then!

Slowly working on getting results up. I have typed up the results for:
1981 Indoor County Championships
1992 Outdoor County Championships
1994 Outdoor County Championships
1996 Outdoor County Championships
They will be posted first thing tomorrow morning (I still have to make a web page out of it, right now they are only results in a text file). I still am having trouble on my laptop with my web software, but I will be getting my normal computer back soon that has the software and will be able to get more pages up more quickly.
