so the indoor season to me has always been kind of dulled down. only like 3 or 4 meets and practice being more of a pain than outdoor. can other schools tell me their planned # of meets, interesting motivators, etc for their indoor season. just for fun.

We try to add some fun things in, like our "Battle of the Sexes" we do between Regionals and States.
Girls 4x800 team races our top 2 miler(s) Girls 4x400 team races our top miler Girls 4x200 team races our top 800 runner Hurdle sprint Challenge High Jump Challenge (2 girl jumpers vs Hruch + a certain height) Shot Put Challenge (3 boys vs 3 girls) Coaches Challenge (2 girls and me run against 2 boys and our sprint coach, the kids run 200 meters each - boys in lane 2, the coaches run 300 meters)
last year the girls won the competition 4 to 3. It's always close. It was fun to watch Steph Deisher sprint past Nick Hruch in the last 50 meters of the 800 challenge.

Those sound pretty fun... maybe our team should try doing something like this.

Coach
Thanks for the schedule. I see a few schools have the Carlisle Meet scheduled on 12/16. Wasn't there some sanctioning issues last year with that meet? Hopefully everything is fine this year, as the MPSSAA seems to be more actively looking for violators.

Yes, last year the Carlisle meet had sanctioning issues. They had a second meet in January that got sanctioned the day before the meet. Only one Maryland team ended up going, but the coach at Carlisle meet said they are working on making sure this meet gets sanctioned (paperwork is being filed) to ensure teams can participate. The process is always slow, but it seems there won't be any sanctioning issues this year.

i just wonder what kind of approach other schools have going into this season. many of the distance runners have just finished xc and probably need some sort of a break. also, most athletes want to peak in the outdoor season where there is more of a showcase. obviously it is diffifult to stay at peak ability throughout indoor into the outdoor season. I've thought about experimenting with the indoor season and doing mid distance and sprints to show them how its done. however i dont wanna screw up the outdoor season.
also, is it really possible to be both a sub 2 800 runner and a sub 10 2 miler?

Andrew Cross as a freshman ran 2:05 and 10:03. If you mean in the same meet during indoor, that is a horse of a different color.
