What is it with these? I hear that Liberty boys got screwed in the 4X800 today because officials miscounted laps and they had to re-run the race. I guess nobody learned from the problem at the Piedmont MVALs where laps were miscounted in the boys 3200. Do state meets use volunteers or paid officials? I know parents were asked to volunteer at earlier meets, but you would think they would pay for officials with some training for the championship meets.

States always uses paid officials for all events. They are all certified officials as well.
I've been a state official in the past, but man do I wish I did it this year!

These sort of things seem to happen each year. Outdoor 2a West regionals last year, they ran the 400s from the wrong line. a couple years ago they had the entire girls 3200 run a lap short, and they had to come back the next day.
It is too bad, because those guys ran the race of their life, all of them running a PR. But Tim only had one 800 in him, and he was in way too much pain to come back. But they sure did run awesome, wow did they show up. Sorry things happened that way, but there is nothing anybody can do.
