I never heard of the "Wild Goose XC Camp" before. Not saying it does not exist just that I don't know of it.
I do know of a Wild Goose State Trail in Wisconsin, but I doubt this is what your looking for and they are probably not having a running camp, so I'd say you got pranked.

You should definitely start that club. Who wouldn't want to go, I know if we had a camp around here with that cool of a name I'd join and am sure others would as well. Plus you already know a lot about running and if you have a shirt design in mind, I'd say your off to a good start.

You could have a motto of "THE REASON WE PRODUCE SO MANY GOOD RUNNERS IS BECAUSE GAS IS $3.00 A GALLON."

ERR does a Wild Goose Chase. I think they plan on doing it in July on a Friday Night. Is that close enough to a camp???

Is the wild goose chase an open race or is it a members only kind of thing

It's a team event - where anybody that is coming to the ERR summer runs can come. You can come to ERR runs without being a member, but obviously they hope you might pay the $5 and join, but there is no requirement. Probably about half of those that come to the runs are actual members.
If you sign up for the Summer Retreat, part of the Retreat Fee is membership into ERR.
