For the Michigans the recovery time of track should be a set distance... about 3/4 of a mile.

I was reading this book the other day with some the workout Bob Bowerman wrote up, and one was a 200 in 30 sec. followed by a 200. in 40 secs. The workout continues until you can't go any longer or until you can't keep up the pace. it said most guys on the team did 8 laps I think it was Roberto Alazar did 16 laps and Pre holds the record with 18 laps. So just to clarify, do you add 10 sec. on for every 200 you do, or do you reach a point where the time levels off.

If time does not level off you could be running a 2:00 200 (that does not sound to hard to me)

The way the workout works is you run 200 meters in 30 sec. then you run a 200 in 40 sec. That completes the first lap. Then you run another 200 in 30 sec. followed by another 200 in 40 sec. You keep this pattern until you fall off the pace or can't go any longer. It sounds extremely hard to me. Especially if you 4.5 miles like that which is what Pre did.

I don't think Pre did that workout for 4.5 miles. We did that workout all the time in college, well, I tried to do it. I thought Pre did it for 2.5 to 3 miles somewhere at that pace.

Oh, Maybe you're right. I just wrote 4.5 miles because in the book I got the workout from, it said that Pre held the school record with 18 laps.
