Century is a medium school this year? I didn't realize our school grew so much...

Coach Ward, Do you know if there is a certain requirement for entering the elite race or is it just whatever team who wants to pay the fee can enter the elite race?

A coach decides which race they want to be in. Most cases the coach must decide quite awhile ago, and sometimes hard to tell what your team may be capable of at that point. One of the problems with a small school and the elite race is that unless you have both an elite girls and boys team, the start times for an elite race and a small school race are very different (lets say that fsk wanted to enter their boys in the elite school race which is at 11:10, and their girls in the small school race which starts at 4:00, there is a big difference in the start times and basically a team would have to be there all day).

I had always thought that it had to do with the size of your school... Small=1/2a, I guess I wass wrong.

it does, small=1/21, medium=2/3a, large-3a/4a and then whatever teams want to be in the elite race...

I just got confirmation, after some confusion with different things published, that FSK is in the medium school race at Hereford. now they will showdown with Wilde Lake.

my money's on key, and i'll go as far to say they will have at least three in the top ten, maybe four...

I think they will get 2 in the top ten, with 2 more in the top 20. That should be enough to beat Wilde Lake.

I'm not saying it can't be done...
It would probably take 6 guys going under 18 at Hereford to have your top 6 in the top 12 of the medium race.
Broadneck's 6th man ran 18:21 at states last year, and they were widely considered the best team in the state. So if you are able to do that, arguably you would be better now then Broadneck was at the end of last year.

better than Broadneck's 2005 state team? Wow. Don't think Welsh and Leathers will run 16:00 and 16:55 the way Centro and Llano did. Agreed FSK's 6-pack is running a tighter spread than the Bruins did, but unless they get two under 17:00 I would not agree they're better than Broadneck was.
I do like FSK's chances right now vs. Wilde Lake on Saturday. FSK is running great right now. Wilde Lake will probably be running great in six weeks.
