Each day there is a meet, I often times get emails about when I am going to post the results. With this weekend as an exception (because I was out of state visiting my parents), I will typically have the results up as soon as they are available. if I am timing the meet, they will get posted as soon as I get home from the meet (in some cases that is before teams do, and even at one meet I am able to post the results as each race finishes). Most other meets the meet directors email the results to me directly. Sometimes I have to format the results, but that usually only takes 15 to 20 minutes depending the format that the meet director sent them to me (the worst is excel, that takes me the longest to put up - or when they fax them to me, then I have to type the entire meet result up).
One thing you should always do is hit the refresh button if you don't see the results. I always get a few emails saying people can't find the results, and I posted them, but there computer is showing them a cached version of the website (for non-computer geeks, that means your computer stored an old version of the site on your harddrive so that you could load the page faster, but sometimes you miss updates if you don't hit refresh). The refresh button is at the end of the addressline at the top, two little arrows that go in a circle. This will get the latest version of any website. Good practice to hit this when you visit a site sometimes.
I just wanted to let people know that I am always trying to get the results up as quickly as possible, and in 99% of the cases I will have them up as soon as they are available.
Also with course distances - when I am at the meet, I typically measure the course just to be certain (this is for those that look at my top times list - which converts everything to a 5K). If I am not able to be there, I either rely on coaches or meet directors. It is not always accurate, and I usually try to error on the side of the course being shorter if there is any question. For instance, the Mountain run yesterday, the meet director told me it was measured twice, with two different totals. I will go with the shorter of the two distances just because I wasn't there to get a measurement.
I am sure I will still get emails, but since I do get so many, I thought I would let people know this stuff in case anybody actually read this and was curious.
