Who do you think will be the County Athlete of the Year for Track & Field in 2006? Still have the two biggest meets left but after the county meet seems the top contenders are there now.
Girls its interesting between teammates. Katie Hursey or Alexis Hurd? Alexis won Conference titles in the 200 and LJ, Katie won four with the 4x8, 1600, 3200 and 800. Both won 4 county titles. I guess Katie might have the edge right now. Katie also probably has a better shot at more state titles.

Don't forget that Alexis anchored the winning 4x400 relay at MVALs, with a sub 60 split.
Although I agree that Katie has the edge going into regionals and states. She has an excellent shot at 2 possibly 3 state titles. Plus she has experience on her side. This will be Alexis' first outdoor state meet.
It should be an exciting month for NC.

Yeah, but her teammate won two state titles in her first state championship. While she is a freshman, she is more experienced in competing then most freshman. Hopefully that will pay off.
That will be an exciting state meet between NC, Linganore and Western. Here's pulling for NC!

Ok, so how about the guys now. Since the outcome of this season was different than indoor and individuals definitally stepped it up, not to mention the addition of jumps and discus, what do you all think? I think, but im not sure, that the most events that any one person won was 2. Nick won HJ and the 800, Lopez won the 110's and 300 hurdles. other than that, who else doubled up? If it were me, I'd pick one of those two guys.

Of course I am biased but still...
Lopez and Hruch are also the only athletes that have the top performance in multiple events in that county for the year
John Lopez - High Hurdles and Intermediate Hurdles Nick Hruch - 400, 800, and HJ
there are 3 athletes that are ranked in the top 5 in more then 2 events:
Mike Vetri (3) - 2nd in HH, 2nd in 300H, 5th in TJ Jeff McConville (4) - 4th in HH, 5th in 300H, 1st in LJ, 3rd in TJ Nick Hruch (7) - 5th in HH, 4th in 300H, 4th in LJ, 2nd in TJ, 1st in the 400, 1st in the 800, 1st in the HJ
Nick was also a member of a 3rd county championship, anchoring the 4x8 team. That also happens to be the fastest time in the county. He also was on the 4x4 that had the fastest time in the county this year - giving him 5 events where he is a part of the top performance and 9 events in the top 5.
Obviously I am biased, but Nick has only lost twice this year. Once when he ran 1:59.2 in the 800, and when he ran the 300 Hurdles once.
But either way, I would think we will have a couple men that win state championships, and that will as well as regional champions play a role.

even though i know he won't win it, I gotta say Jimmy Ridder is definatly up there between his 1600, 800, 4x800 and the occasional 4x400, thats my piece anyways biased as it may be
