present the 2nd annual running of the

FALLFEST MILE
In downtown Westminster, Maryland
SUNDAY, SEPT. 17, 2006, 3:45 PM

Awards to: (no duplicate awards)
Top three finishers, male & female ($50, $25, $15)
Top Masters, male & female ($25)


This is not the Main Street Mile: Runners who can not complete a mile in less than 15 minutes are discouraged from participating due to time constraints.

* No baby joggers, strollers, headsets, pets or cell phones are allowed. This will be strictly enforced. Violators may be disqualified.

Entry fee for all participants: $5.00. Entries must be postmarked by Sept. 5.

Registration will be done either online or by mail:
- online (at www.carr.org/~wrrc or Active.com until 9/8), or
- by mail (postmarked by 9/5; send to address along bottom)
- No race day registration
- Details online: race-day packet pickup information, race map and everything else.

Start: 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Monroe Street beside McDaniel College
Finish: no later than 4 p.m. on Longwell Avenue
Parking: near the finish line in parking garage or along streets
Plan ahead: allow time for parking, packet pickup, and getting yourself to the starting line
Awards: 4:10 p.m. near the finish line

There isn't a major conflict this year for this race like last year. I believe the Fallfest Mile was the same weekend as Bull Run - I wasn't around, so I'm not positive. This year, I think the Brunswick Invitational is on the 16th and a Mountain Run on the 19th. Other than that, shouldn't be any reason why high schoolers can't come out and support this race. It's $5 for a legitimate (read: not Main St. Mile) road mile time.

This is a fun race, and the course will be lined with people waiting for the parade. There is an 8K race in Seattle with more than 100,000 spectators lined up on a parade route, cheering on all the 8K runners before the parade.

There won't be 100,000 people in Westminster on Sept. 17, but there will be enough cheering for everyone.
