The Central Maryland Athletic Club, a Carroll County-based running group, will start its summer workout schedule on Monday, June 5 at South Carroll High School in Winfield. CMAC, an affiliate of the Westminster Road Runners and Eldersburg Rogue Runners clubs, was formed in 2002 and focuses on providing support and competitive opportunities for post-collegiate runners. Runners of all ages and abilities who want to run faster than they ever have before are encouraged to participate. CMAC offers individualized training plans to each runner throughout the summer with the opportunity for follow-up coaching the rest of the year. CMAC will conduct workouts every Monday at SCHS. The club’s Thursday workouts will rotate with its summer cross country relay race schedule. All practices begin at 6 p.m. Cost is $25 for the entire summer for runners that are not already CMAC members. The summer cross country series will begin on Thursday, June 8 at 7 p.m. at Liberty High School in Eldersburg with a 4 X 1-kilometer race. Races will also be held at LHS on June 22 (4 X 1.5K), July 6 (4 X 2K), July 20 (4 X 1K) and Aug. 3 (4 X 2K). Cost for the races are $1 each for members of WRRC and ERR and $2 for all other runners. Relay teams can sign up together or individual runners can be paired with others.
