CMAC places 3rd in Mayor's Cup South Carroll High School and McDaniel College graduate Jill Krebs helped the Central Maryland Athletic Club to a third-place finish in the team standings at the 17th annual Mayor's Cup Cross Country race at Franklin Park in Boston on Sunday, Oct. 22, in Boston. Krebs, 27, who now resides in West Haven, Conn., finished in 18 minutes, 13 seconds, for an average of 5:51 over the 5K (3.1 mile) course. The team was led by Julie Culley, 25, of Baltimore, who finished eight overall among 107 runners in 17:06 (5:29). Heidi Wolfsberger, 26, of Moosic, Pa., was second for CMAC in 17:43 (5:41). Erin Boyle (18:13) and Melissa Tanner (19:08) rounded out CMAC's squad. Westchester (NY) Track Club won with 25 points, followed by a team from the Boston Athletic Association (54). CMAC had 72 points. For their effort, the women earned $100. ---- Next month, four CMAC runners -- Jill Krebs (South Carroll, McDaniel), Diana Pool (Westminster HS, McDaniel), Kim Jaick (Reading, Pa.) and Pam Maldeis (Towson, formerly of Eldersburg) -- will attempt to qualify for the Olympic Marathon Trials, to be held in Boston prior to the 2008 Olympic Games.
