CMAC member and a personal friend of mine, Heidi Wolfsberger qualified for the olympic trials today in the marathon. She ran the Philadelphia Marathon in 2 hours 44 minutes and 3 seconds today. Imagine, that is quicker then a football game (average of 6 minutes and 15.5 seconds per mile - how far can you go at that pace). Football players get tired after running a 100 yards (I shouldn't talk, I didn't run today, meanwhile she is running 26.2). Some Liberty kids may remember Heidi when she came to Hershey Park on a team trip once. Here is the results: results.active.com/pages/searchform.jsp?pubID=3&rsID=50151Congrats Heidi!

Heidi is a member of the Baltimore-Washington Athletic club (formely CMAC) that is based in Westminster (run by Doug Renner of McDaniel College). The club has worked with ERR often in the past, and is actually looking to work together to establish a coaches organization now that will help with different areas of the running community in high school (like getting more awards for the county xc championships). Heidi has also written a featured article for ERR for their July 2005 Newsletter about running in college. Here is an article written by Kevin Spradlin about Heidi's accomplishment. Kevin used to write for the Carroll County Times before getting a job in Missouri. I believe he now has a job in the Cumberland area. www.errun.org/WolfsbergerQualifies.asp

No, she is running the Women's Olympic Trials this coming April. It is in Boston the day before the Boston Marathon. The men's trials was this month the day before the NY Marathon.
Not bad in her first ever marathon!
