My brother, Dan, and another kid form ORMS beat Cross' record this week. Both are not thinking about joiing XC but I know my brother could be convinced otherwise (by someone not named pat kelsh)

I know a quiet, secluded place (you know the kind, where no one can hear you scream)....where he could be...gently persuaded.

Liberty had a decent showing when we met with the middle schoolers. Helps when you have a lot of "siblings".
Next year there will be 6 siblings of past Liberty runners coming to Liberty
Walter Bender's Brother Ryan Smith's Brother Stacey Smith's Sister Erika Spivey's Sister Pat Kelsh's Brother Liz Pickett's Sister

I know a few kids who are fairly fast, and would make a good edition to our team but the problem is they think running is to boring. Does anybody know some sort of way i could convince them to come out for the team or perhaps some fun "running games" that might get them interested in joining.

Good ways our team has found is getting them to go to ERR Runs, go to the ERR running retreat, and do some of the ERR games. I know that sounds like an ERR plug, but it has worked. Eric Liberatore was a soccer guy, as was Pat Dougherty, and ERR helped bring them over. The list goes on and on. It's easier to first convince someone to go on ONE run, and when they go to a run, then you bring them over and show them how much fun it can be to be a part of the team.

The funny thing with me is that as a freshman i played football then i quit, ran outdoor as a sprinter. I decided to not do football and run xc just to try it out and it was fun at first i was pretty bad but as the three running seasons progressed so did i. I love running distance now. It's kinda Ironic.

Yesterday, I was able to recruit two new runners for our team... Catie German and Sam Naper. I am planning on taking them on a run with me, but seeing neither of them are in great shape right now and have not run before, I was not sure how far we should go or if I should try to avoid hills. Does anyone have any advice.

Start them slow, what you start on always depends on the person. Try not to take them on something where they can't finish it. Honestly, taking them to the rogue runners runs can really help. A lot of new runners come (they hvae had a few coming out at least so far, but it can be hit or miss, like the other day when it poured, it was mostly the die hard runners that came out for a nice mud run) When they can run with other people that are in their same boat it helps. 1 to 2 miles is a good range for most people to start on.

since i'm part of the flying feet program it's all winters mill runners xcept me and jake. Chris frock is a decent runner and you guys are gonna laugh but i'm kinda coaching him/motivating. These guys are not motivated what so ever and i always push chris helping the rivals you can say but we have been running strong and well, hopeing for a good show this fall.
