On the display panel beneath your user name is an option called Karma. I know karma is the good/bad energy a person has, but what is the purpose of this option on the computer.

I don't exactly get the Karma thing either. You seem to be able to change your own Karma level.

It's like an eProps kind of thing. If someone likes you or your responses in a discussion, they can Exalt you (notice the Exalt link). If they think your response was ignorant and/or irrelevant, they can Smite you (note the Smite link). The Karma is the final level of the Exaltings and Smitings you have received.
For example, if you are Exalted twice (+2) and Smited thrice (-3), your Karma wil be at -1.

Do you think there are different levels for this, say you reach +20 karma level do you become a KARMA MASTER?

Doubtful.
Karma is only useful on some sites, where it will give you some privileges like access to certain board or something like that. Normally the board admin sets that up.
