You are right about it being friday.
As for the other riddle, the statment is reffering to the first letter in the word Paris and the word Ends, thus Paris starts with a P and ends with an E

Actually, the answer to the squirrel riddle is 6 days. This is because a squirrel has 2 ears itself (on its head) so he can only carry out 1 ear of corn a day.

was it the cook? if the man was found sunday morning, he could have very well been murdered saturday night, at which time the cook would have been available to kill him because he was cooking sunday morning, but had no alibi for saturday night
