But under that logic, you are killing someone when you put them to death. You are playing God. I see where you are coming from, but I disagree with this statement. You are not playing God when you end a murderer's life no more than they were when the crime was committed. To some it might be a grant of power, however if you look at it from a religious point of view, as you have chosen, you are merely doing the will of god when you preform necessary justice. By the way, you never openly expressed you point of view on the matter Spongebob, your statement might imply something but you seem to prefer to be neutral in the matter. I don't really mind, its more of an observation, I'm not trying to "call you out".

Yes, I like to stay neutral (and often times play devil's advocate). I'm not going to bring up what religion I am, but when in college I had studied different religions (course work).
For Christians, they are actually against the death penalty (or suppose to be). In their faith, you can't decide what the will of god is. In fact, they would say that their judgement would be decided when they must confront god in the thereafter. No matter how you rationalize it, to a christian, you still killed a human being if you put them to death thus putting you in the same corner in the eyes of God as the man put to death for killing some other individual.
Again, this is just strictly based on the christian faith.

Bravo to the devil's advocate, and good line. I assumed that you new something of religions by the way that you decided to capitalize the "g" in god, most teens wouldn't have given it any thought, remained lazy and left it lower case. Your explanation is logical, well thought out, and well put together. However it appears to me that it is more likely for a catholic to consult God than a presbyterian or protestant if I remember correctly, though I do agree with your idea of the Christian faith and its opinion of the death penalty, based on their faith technically they are supposed to be against the death penalty or they should at least consult god first. Today however with the many different religions and the atheist opinion and overall loss of faith, it is hard for congress to make a good decision on the death penalty.

I am of the Catholic Religion and although our faith believes it is wrong to kill a man (which it is) it is also not right to let the person who killed that man to get away with it.
Also if certain religions are so against the death penalty why do they send someone to visit the convicted killer before he dies?

Yeah I guess it is a good thing to give the person a last chance to repent their sins.

That is if they are Christian, if not the person does whatever their religion tells them to (assuming that they have a religion).

From a religious point of view it is wrong as well (at least according to the catholic orthodox).

I don't know, I think if they are truly in love then they should be able to get married. If this were true soon people would be getting married to their pets.
