Hi -
I'm new to the ERRs (actually, they haven't even cashed my check yet), but I'd like to know if anyone is interested in ultras. I've done several marathons and am considering trying a 50 miler this fall if the old legs hold up. In the course of training, or even in place of the JFK or Tussey Mountainback (which I'm considering) I have also toyed with the idea of just doing 50 on the NCR trail. Anybody interested in doing something like this? Or maybe something in the way of a long training run (say 20 miles to 50k) some time. I must admit I usually train exclusively on a treadmill for convenience and to reduce nagging injuries, but I think training for an ultra probably requires some more specific workouts (hills, gravel, carrying water etc.). I've even thought that sponsoring a race on the trail would be good for some organization. I think it would be a big hit as I bet a lot of ultra runners would love a chance to PR on a flat course. I think they used to have one there, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I'm open to any and all thoughts, being a newbie to the ultra world.
Best,
Al
