I finally decided to expand the Carroll County Running area to not just be the message board, but also be an actual website.
Previously I have kept results and rankings on the ERR website, but I thought it would be fitting if Carroll County had a place with all of this information together.
I have a lot of work to do to get it up, but I do have some of the groundwork set. Hopefully when I have some free time I can get at least a homepage made.
The idea was I was going to have all past results that I could get for Carroll County teams on the site. I am trying to get school records for all the schools put up.
I am working with a few people on some of these things:
We are a small county, but the stuff I do put up does get a lot of hits. I figure this is a good way to try and get more interest in the sport. If you have ideas for the site let me know. Problem will be that it is just me, so I can't do a lot. I don't plan on having pictures on the (like a photo album) mainly cause I just don't have the time to get a lot of pictures, we will leave that to the ERR site. Hopefully over time this will grow. Right now I plan it to be a pretty static website, but who knows what the future may hold.
One idea that I think would be interesting, but might be still a ways off before we have enough interest in the site that it will work is this:
One of the Frederick County Newspapers has a section in their paper where they have "blogs" of various athletes from the county:
www.fredericknewspost.com/sections/sports/hsBlogs.htm
Even the Carroll County Times has 2 athletes per season that right a blog for the paper.
What I thought would be neat, that maybe one day I could get various athletes from the county to right blogs about their seasons. They could write as often as they like, they would send it to me, and I would post it. That might be a great way to add interesting things to the site, without adding a lot of work for me (only so many hours in a day). Maybe one day that would be interesting.
If you think it's a good idea, and would be interested in doing a blog, let me know (you can either put something on here, or send me an e-mail). If there is interest, maybe I will explore it. Again, probably something I see in the future when we have more people visiting the site.
Like I said, we already get a good bit of traffic. I hope this can add excitement to our sport and our county. There is no profit to me (and never will be) and we will never have any charges for anything on our site (at least as long as I am the webmaster). I do put a lot of time and some money into this site, but only because I think you all enjoy it.
So again, any ideas, shoot me an e-mail, or you can put your comments here. No promises, but I will see what I can do. The site should be live soon!

I am working with a few people on some of these things:
- A list of every state champion (team and individual) in XC and T&F from Carroll County
- A list of all Carroll County Cross Country Champions
- A County Track & Field Records Book
- much much more...
