I was a little amazed as i looked at the results from bull run i have always know that carroll county had good xc teams but the showing that they had at bull run was well amazing i use this word lightly cause last time i made some people madd but i believe xc running in carroll county is becoming a power house to have carroll team finish 1,2,3(WM, FSK, SC) in the small school is amazing the teams from century ran the elite race nc had a good run finishing five or six points out of 3 rd. and westminster wasnt far behind I find it amazing that we are tied for the second most state titles by county with larger counties with three times the schools and as i look to the future i see only one way for running to go in carroll i know that it will hit road bumps like next year when nc will lose half there team to manchster valley but we as a whole county to have alot to be proud and i think we owe not only to out dedication as runners but to our coaches who have to deal with us and give up there time for the sport I wish all teams well tommorow at MVALS and cant wait to see you on the course at westminster and i wish all Carroll county teams the best at reigionals and states

Yeah, how about 13 state titles by Carroll County since 1996. And there is a number of teams fighting for state titles this year (sure they may not be the favorites by many people, they certainly are in the equation, and I will be rooting for you all).
It looks like most of Carroll County has a great shot at qualifying for states again.

I think it partly boils down to success breeding success. I think once you build a successful program you can maintain a certain level of that success because kids want to be a part of something with a strong history of success and will work to make sure that they maintain it.
It doesn't hurt having some of the summer running programs that you have, like ERR and some other ones.
Also I think the overall attitude in your county is different than in Frederick Co. There everyone knows that people are training and if you expect to compete you need to also. That ultimately lifts the level of competition tremendously. Here I don't think that attitude exists. We have kids that train hard through the summer and they compete well outside the county but we also have kids that run next to nothing and are still able to be pretty competitive on the local level. That is enough for some kids/coaches. Until the attitude that we need to train to be a force on the state level becomes more prevalent it is going to be tough for us to be able to produce the results that you do.
