TJ won't do anything significant, maybe no points at all. Most of their "top" guys are going to the Clear Spring meet the night before. Ebert-Zavos is the only top guy going to this meet for TJ. Middletown is in the same boat. Urbana lacks strength in anything below the 800. They have a decent 55H guy but that's it from what I saw at the developmental.

That uncertainty is the exact reason I made no plans to go to Carlisle. After getting nailed last year I really didn't think it was worth it to maybe get to go there.

The meet ends at 8:00 pm. Last year they didn't get to the 800 or 4x400. That is partly why we usually have our JV runners compete at this meet. We aren't sure yet if it will be varsity or JV at this meet.

4 entries per event is/can will make for a long meet and some big heats.

Looking at last year's results, I have that 23 teams came last year. This year there is 17 teams coming, and 5 of the teams coming are also running on Friday (which means it may be only their JV team competing at Smithsburg - but for a team like Middletown that is so big, that doesn't make a big difference). But essentially, it could be more like a 15 or 16 team meet. 7 or 8 less schools then last year will probably make the meet move a lot quicker. And one of the schools coming this year that didn't come last year is Beall, and they traditionally have a much smaller team (probably wont' have 4 kids in every event - or possibly any event). TJ and Frederick Douglass are the two other schools coming this year that didn't come last year.

Since this is a developmental meet like said before many teams varsity guys may not be there. Or just use jv at this meet, our team is taking it just for fun and seeing like nsnyder said about the "seeing the potential scorers" later on for this season. Low key is what i'm summing it up to be..

Some teams will take it really serious while others are so-so. Most of the girls I have competing will probably push really hard because they are trying to earn varsity spots for our more serious meets. There aren't a ton of opportunities to prove yourself indoor so some have to make the most out of every opportunity. We are looking for strong individual performances, the team results don't mean much at this point to us.

I don't know much but here is a stab of some of the things I have found for the guys meet on Saturday (seems to be more guys hat are looking at this site, if more girls do, I will do them too)
55 Hurdles looks to be a pretty good race. 3 guys that posted sub 8 second 55 hurdle times last year in Quinton Ferguson of Frederick, Jamal Campbell of Smithsburg and John Lopez of Westminster
4x800 could have some top teams. Damascus has already put up an 8:33 with a leadoff leg of 1:59.98. Liberty is the defending 1a2a state champs, and both Westminster and Century should have good 4x8 teams this year. Urbana typically has a very good 4x8 also. Beall consistently has good teams, last year had the 1a outdoor state champs. Could be a lot of fire power.
Given the strength of the 4x800, the 800 should also be stacked. Add in Cole from Williamsport, will Middletown run their varsity team there, if so you can add a few names in the 800 and probably the 4x8 too.
3200 - Dylan Bernard of Urbana automatically will make this a fast race. Add in names like Brendan Dulaney of Westminster, Centofonti of Smithsburg, and Mike Lilley of Williamsport and you could see some good times here.
1600 - Sisler, Liberatore, Zahorodny (4:37 yesterday), Middletown? and Dawson just to name a few, and again you should have a good race.
sprinters - don't know a lot about them, but I do know that Smithsburg has Chad Brown, Frederick Douglass always has some top sprinters, Theron Johnson of Century, Euler from Middletown, and Josh Jackson of Frederick and you should have some talented sprinters too.
PV - Westminster and Liberty obviously, but Smithsburg had a 11'6 vaulter last year, and Middletown has dominated in the past. Want to score, better PR
SP & HJ - didn't see a lot of top marks for either of these events. Yeah, Nick Hruch, and I saw a 41 foot thrower from Smithsburg.
4x2 & 4x4- a lot of good teams. Smithsburg, Frederick, Westminster, Century, Frederick Douglas...
Smithsburg should definitely be in the running to win the meet, not to mention a number of other teams.

It's the first meet of the season and we are all ready to go yea Damascus has a good 4x8 team and Both 1600m & 3200m run should be exciting. I hope that runningmaryland makes a video of this meet like the others and good coverage from Westernmaryland running because of Beall and such can't wait...

Runningmaryland will be at the Howard County meet. Darryl always seems to be taking pictures at these meets though.
