well not that its going to affect me but i think it's a stupid move. conferences is small enough as it is and making another conference is just making it that much more meaningless. Not the i was around when CMC's were going on but from what i've heard 2 conferences sounds more like an achievement. heres how it should be. take all the schools in all conferences, largest 50% of schools go into a conference and the smallest 50% of school go into another. keeps it fair, competitive, and fun!

I say get rid of it. I've never liked it nor seen the purpose. We already have a meet decided by school sizes-regions and states.
However, we do need to take into account all of the other sports and there is no way to make a decision solely based on cross country and/or track and field.

I agree. I don't think that people take conferences seriously. It certainly doesn't have the feel of a championship meet. Most other schools in the Baltimore area have no conference, and I think Carroll should join that group. There really isn't a point.
I've never competed outside of running, but I doubt that any other sports find conferences that important either.

Also, if we didn't have to play games out west, other sports would have room in their schedules to play Howard and Baltimore County teams. More options for making schedules. For example, I would bet that lacrosse teams in Carroll would rather play against competitive Howard County teams that just whipping up the Frederick and Washington County teams where the program isn't established that well.
