Hi Everyone, I am new to the Eldersburg/Sykesville area. I ran XC and track in Ohio in high school, then came to Baltimore to run for Johns Hopkins. Now that I've graduated and settled here, I'm looking for people to run with -- I am aiming to get more serious about running and training for marathons. (I have taken the past few years since graduating easy). Please let me know if there are any marathon training groups or just groups to run with in the area! Also, is there a time when Liberty High School has their track open to the public? I went up there the other day and it was locked Thanks! Andrea

You can contact Dave Griffin at dpgflyingfeet@aol.com He runs programs for school age kids and adults at all levels including marathons. He has 4 programs that he runs, a summer program, fall program, winter program and a spring program. He is very good and keeps you motivated. Most of his runs are in the Westminster area, but you'll be running with a great group of people. If you have a Facebook account you can look up "Flying Feet Running Programs" for more information at WRRC at www.carr.org/~wrrc/Sorry, can't help you with the Liberty track, I know that the Century Track is also open. The Liberty Track is always open (except during games), just the main gate isn't always open. There is a gate by the outdoor basketball courts (eastern end of the stadium by the large staircase and the flag pole) that is open unless there is a game going on. That is the gate most of the community uses when they go to use the track.
Flying Feet is a great program, I am a member of it (this is my 5th season with them) and have really enjoyed the group. They meet several times a week.
If you are in the Eldersburg area, which it sounds like you are, another group is the Eldersburg Rogue Runners. They do Bagel Runs every Saturday (early morning run, then many of them get bagels afterwards). This Saturday they meet at Liberty at 8:00 am. I haven't been in awhile (since joining Flying Feet because they do Saturday Morning runs), but do miss running with them. The attendance varied, sometimes they would have a nice crowd out, and every once in awhile it would be a low attendance (especially when it was the same day as a xc or track meet because many of them have kids on those teams).
There is a lot of runners in the Eldersburg area. Not that I know them all, but I know quite a number of them. If you are ever just looking for someone to run with, there is a lot of people that would be interested. You can email me at CoachSpongeBob10@yahoo.com, if you like (my name is Bob Ward, I'm the track coach at Liberty, run myself, and as I said I'm a member of Flying Feet and ERR). I can introduce you to somebody, or could even run with you if you were looking for someone.
Any questions please ask.
