sorry, I was gone for 3 weeks, and then ERR had the retreat this week. We just got back, and I may have some catching up to do at work, but I should have them up soon now that I am back in Maryland.

New rankings are up now. I did end up using PRs from outdoor season as a first "meet" after adding points for the new season. I can see this will help make the rankings better to start for a few reasons but one is obvious. Had we not done that, Andrew Cross would have started the season with 30 points, and at least now he will start the season with 70 points (given his 10:12 two mile time in outdoors, he is likely to be closer to his freshman times this year then the times he had last year while battling Leukemia). A few others benefited - even though you only ran the 3200 once Jose, you still benefited with us doing that. So this at least gives us a starting point for the season.

Thanks for all the hard work, coach. Can't wait to start the season and see how the county teams are shaping up.

After seeing the preview today, and talking to a coach, it seems that 3 of the top 10 girls from the rankings are not running XC this year. If there is anybody else on the rankings that is not running, let me know so I can eliminate them.
Those that were taken off:
Carly Reed, Century (Playing Field Hockey) - she was the #1 returning runner Christine Hillman, Century Taylor Bielski, Century

Andrew Cross is out inidefinitely, and likely for the season. An unexpected, and unavoidable foot injury. he'll be reevaluated ina few weeks, but it is doubtful he will be cleared to run again this season.

Bob, thanks for updating the rankings so fast.
Not sure exactly how it works, but I didn't think someone could have their points change if they didn't run. How did Findeison go up 10 points today without having run yet this season?

Leave it to someone to see that. I actually decided to add 10 to all scores, so that the rankings would include more people. By doing that, a few extra people got added (and it also save a few people from being eliminated from the rankings). Everybody got the 10, and it was added before factoring in Westminster Invite (basically it means the adjusted baseline just got raised 5 seconds). It has no effect on their rankings, and it does not make it easier or harder to move in the rankings since everybody got the same score added.

I have been getting a number of e-mails about the rankings. I love the e-mails, and every one of them have been positive, even when they are asking questions. So many have e-mailed asking how it works, or how someone can get added, or if I had missed something. I am amazed at how nice everybody has been in the e-mails, and it just shows you how great a county we have with the support. I know when other counties and runningmaryland does rankings, they get a lot of "hate" e-mails, but I have yet to get these, and I really thank you all for that. I am glad to see so many e-mails from parents and kids about the rankings.
One thing I am planning on doing before Bull Run, at least it is my thought right now. I want to get more kids on the rankings, cause I only see positive with that (except I have more work to do!). I plan on giving everybody some set number of points before the Bull Run Race. So if after Bull Run, you notice somebody gained points even though they didn't race, you will know why. this won't help anybody except it will open up the rankings to more people being involved. We have a small county, but I still would like to get as many as 25 to 30 names on the rankings.

I think adding kids to the list is a pretty good idea.
Just so people know and so CoachSpongeBob won't have to get as many e-mails (as much as he said he liked them) there is a link at the top of the screen called How it works that explains the whole ranking system.

On another note, Coach Snyder and I have been working together to make Frederick County Rankings with the same system. He just posted them yesterday. So now 3 counties use this same system (Carroll, Frederick and Montgomery) not to mention WV.
