Welsh won the 3200 (9:51) with Leathers and White both running about 10:08. Cross ran 10:12.4 (less then six tenths from automatic qualifying).
Century boys won the 4x8. SC and Century girls both qualified for states
Melissa Stansbury threw 116 feet in discus to win. Alex Wunder from FSK also qualified. Laura Walker from Liberty Qualified in the Pole Vault (8'2")
I didn't see the girls 3200 (rule issue), but I think Rachel Sykes qualified, and I think (hope) Kristen O'Brien did too.
I don't think any 4x200 teams qualified. We have a number of kids from the county that made finals of the 100, 200 and hurdles. I won't try to name them cause I will miss some.
I am not sure about boys SP, girls TJ or boys LJ. We didn't stay for the finish of the LJ, I only saw the first flight of SP, and missed the triple jump.
Boys High Jump, I didn't see this either. Nick is out, and we didn't have anybody in the event. I imagine Middletown went 1-2.
I am sure I am missed some too...

I am very disappointed with the 2a west meet. It was ridiculous that they made the mistake on the running of the 400 and that they had to rerun the event far after the meet should have ended, especially with prom going on that day for several schools. Also, Brett pointed out that the meet was hand-timed, which doesn't sound right for a championship meet. Coach P got me at a 4:39 for the mile, with CJ, Arthur, and I finishing side-by-side-by-side. Several coaches said that CJ and I leaned and Arthur didn't, and yet Arthur was given 1st of the three of us, with a 4:38.9, CJ 2nd, with a 4:39.2 I think, and me, 3rd, with a 4:40.0. I wasn't even that upset because I guess it was a judgement call, and they had no camera, but now that I've seen these results with the top 6 finishers, I can't believe they timed us with such differences in the finish. I don't know how they could say I was a full 1.1 sec. behind Arthur. Oh well, there are 2 more years ahead of me and I'm glad that at least they have CJ going to states. Congrats to everyone for their great running this year and to everyone who is off to states.

I agree with Jake, it is ridiculous that a regional championship would not have a camera at the finish line or proper timing utensils. As for the 400, as long as everyone started at the same place (green line) I guess it doesn't matter because there was no advantage given to any runner. Yet the mistake still should not have be made in the first place. Other then that the meet was OK, there were still a few things that would have been nicer like the first day being run more efficiently (it took forever). It would also have been nice if the bathrooms had soap, paper towels, and doors. The wind also sucked, but there is nothing you can do about that.
As for the people who ran everyone did a great job, and congratulations to everyone who made it to states.

Jake, don't let the meet bother you to much. Like you said you have two more years left and besides I'm sure you will make it to states next year.
Oh yeah, you also need to keep coming to practice otherwise I won't have anyone to run with.

"As for the 400, as long as everyone started at the same place (green line) I guess it doesn't matter because there was no advantage given to any runner"
CJ, that is untrue. They ran in lanes for a one turn stagger which means that lane 8 ran the most followed by 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and then 1. Lane 1 ran a 400, while lane 8 ran closer to a 425.

My mistake. I thought that in the open 400 that you stayed in lanes the whole time but I guess I was wrong.

You do stay in your lanes the whole time. But since they used a 1 turn stagger for a race where you stay in your lane for 2 turns, the kids in lane 8 ran much farther then the kids in lane 1. I am not sure where you got 425 from, but I am sure it is close. The lane widths weren't a typical track, so I couldn't guess how many meters per lane that is (and the officials said that at the meet).

425 was just a guess, but overall the situation was just awful. Is the state going to do anything to make up for the awful seed times that resulted?

No, in fact, all of our region times will probably get time added to compensate for them being hand times (.24 in distance races typically), even though all the times seem to be high for what I had as times (that boys 1600 is a perfect example)
