1:20 p.m. – Boys Chesapeake/Blue Ridge Varsity race
1:50 p.m. – Girls Chesapeake/Blue Ridge Varsity race
From Running Maryland... Are these two conferences really being combined? I hadn't heard anything about that earlier.

They are only being combined when they are run but they will be scored separately. The goal is to make for more competitive races. Having a race with 35 or 42 runners doesn't make for a terribly exciting race.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the idea. I wish all four conferences were combined and the scoring be done regardless of conference. I just didn't know about this earlier. It sounds like there will be better races than last year.

We actually toyed with the idea of having one race, but of all the coaches who were asked about what they preferred about combining conferences, only one coach wanted to combine all four conferences. I think what the general belief is is that combining two conferences will make for more competitive races, while at the same time keep the number of runners down in the races - making it easier for coaches and runners to "gauge" how they are doing against certain teams in their same division.

So is what i hear about next year true that all Carroll county teams will be in Chesapeake or one of the divisions so whats the point Ive also heard that then they might do away with the Carroll county champs because it would be the same as mvals why not just get rid of mvals or have an individual race for them

The TJ boys are a strong team. They are very deep, and haven't had their full varsity team run at many meets (At Mountain run the varsity guys didn't run) but when they have they have beaten all teams in the MVAL.
As for the MVAL, I have heard that they are planning on putting all 7 Carroll County teams in the same conference. Because of this, I know the track coaches have talked about an alternative - there isn't much point to having two consecutive meets of the same teams. A thought that coaches seemed to like that I am in favor of is having JV counties on the day of MVALs and Varsity Counties the next week. The coaches I talked to liked this because having JV counties the day before varsity counties is tough. There is a lot of great reasons to do this, we will see if it happens. This was a proposal for outdoor track.

TJ is a very solid team. If they would've run their full Varsity at Mountain Run I think they would've been extremely competitive with Winters Mill. I think TJ has an excellent shot at the Chesapeake. Westminter and Urbana I think will mix it up for second. I'm not sure about North Carroll - I haven't followed them too closely this year (I'm a Frederick Co. coach), but I think they'll be competitive with WHS and UHS.

These alignments are out of today's FNP For all sports except football, field hockey, and lacrosse Piedmont Frederick, TJ, Linganore, Middletown, Tuscarora, Walkersville, Urbana, and Oakdale (2010)
Antietam Brunswick, Catoctin, Boonsboro, Clear Spring, Williamsport, Smithsburg
Chesapeake Century, FSK, Liberty, Manchester Valley, North Carroll, South Carroll, Westminster, Winter's Mill
First they watered down the conferences to the point that they are only slight glorified league meets and then basically make them a 2nd county meet. Horrible idea.

I'd like to see it go back to something like it was back in 2005-2006. Back than, all three counties were represented in the Piedmont. Can't remember what the breakdown was for Antietam and Chesapeake, but I think all three counties were represented in each of those as well...

At this point I'd be fine with dumping the whole conference thing altogether. The 5/6 team conferences like we have now are really bad and what we are changing to is certainly not any better. Why not dump the conferences and extend our regular season one more week or have an opportunity for a solid week of training leading up to out county meets?

I agree i dont see a point in having couties and MVALS if they are the same teams as in the countys the only difference from the county meet would be that its at a different course so wats the point as my coach told me about the plan for next season i asked y even hold counties he didnt have and answer i have never really found a point to conference it doesnt mean anything u dont need it to quilfy for anything so my thought is if they are gonna do that then why not combine the team tittles or eliminate one (MVALS) as least for the sake of the team tittle you could still have a individual race for those who are good to determine first and second team or do so for counties for braging rights
I also didnt like the idea of them combing the four races into two and dividing the scores out i would rather be able to run and see where im placing in a race of just 35 to 40 then a larger race even if it wouldnt be as competive it kinda defeats the whole purpose of having four different divisions
