I don't think SC's course is to bad. I actually really like the course because it gives you a good variety (rolling hills, steep hills, flats, woods).

I like most of the course, but the woods are a pain. Not so much the hills, I actually like hills, but the narrow trails with roots and rocks everywhere. I know last year at SC Invite I got stuck behind one group for a while. It's a good course for smaller meets, but for a 25 team invite, it's a little too small. Besides the woods, it's a very good XC course.

I agree that the course isn't big enough to hold that many teams. But as for the woods I actually find them to be the best part. And although the trails are narrow it is still possible to pass people if you really want to.

Yea you can pass if you really want to, but it's not nearly as easy or convenient as running in wider trails or open fields.

Cross Country is by no means about convenience. That's what track is for: ideal conditions and fast times. Cross Country shouldn't devolve into a track race that's just dressed up on fields and wide trails.

Well of course it's not about convenience, but it makes for a more likeable course when the trails aren't narrow. Nobody likes narrow trails, we just deal with it. I'm not saying we should have ideal conditions or change the course or anything, just voicing my opinion of the course, which I actuall like.

I don't mind the narrow trails to much.
Although they can make the race more tactical, because some people are afraid to pass on the narrow trails, giving the person in the front total control of the race.

Yea yea, I remember this one guy would always full out sprint for the 5 seconds before entering the woods to get a good spot in the race. Kind of funny to watch but not a bad idea.

Yeah I know of a few guys who did this as well, they would sprint into the woods so they could set the pace once they got inside.
