Of course you choose one of the hard 5ks and compare it to one of the easiest 3 miles. That why the time are so spread apart. Tringoli normally runs mid 17's.

Hmmm South Carroll? No i didnt count them out. I just dont think they will improve enough to catch Winters Mill. This thread is making me yawn a lot.

mid 17s and he ran a 16:03 there. Exactly what I'm talking about. That course is not legit. Don't get me wrong, Tringali has been excellent, but times from Middletown are skewed. You can't say Winters Mill has five guys under 16:30 or w/e. They would be a Quince Orchard if that was really the case.

You can't say Winters Mill has five guys under 16:30 or w/e. . who ever said that? by the way this thread makes me yawn as well, etb also with South Carroll's 109 points compared to Winters Mill's 79 and placing our top 4 in the top 20 and your top 2 only. With winters mill losing no one, it seems at this point, we can count South Carroll out of winning counties.

No he means the first post of the thread. it would turn into this 1)Winters Mill 2)North Carroll 3)Century 4)Westminster 5)Francis Scott Key 6)Liberty 7)South Carroll Which i agree with Winters Mill being first. With them only losing their #7 runner and FSK losing 4 of their top 5 Winters mill will pretty much dominate counties, mvals, and regionals. There is, of course, the small possibility of the other county teams picking up a few gifted freshman but with the top 4 runners of Winters Mill all having PRs under 16:30, coming up with enough new runners will be next to impossible.4 guys, not 5; my bad.

You are very naive. Noone would have predicted Winters Mill in the top three at counties from last year's placement. By your logic, your own team could certainly be counted out this year. Winning comes from running over the summer and maintaining and adding speed in the season. It is unpredictable and there is no such thing as being counted out. I won't argue with you guys anymore because I hope that you count us out; it will only improve our chances. Good luck at states against the real big dogs.

I don't know about yawning but i laugh when I think of Winters Mill not winning next year. Key and West are clearly gunna drop off the map, both losing 4/5. Winters Mill isn't losing anybody in their 5. Now I don't know about SC's 5 but even if they keep em all Winters Mill won by plenty at counties and other meets. They'll only get better.

I concur. Good point. Its nice to have an agreement on this from someone not at Winters Mill. Positive Karma for you! By the way, how did your karma get so low Westminsterunning?

Not sure if it's a good thing being a preseason favorite. The team that was preseason pick the last two years didn't win. What does that mean? In fact, 3 out of the last 4 "favorites" didn't win. But that's according to whom...

Many people thought Key would win and the end of last year for this years season. My money is still on WM.

Actually, not many people did think Key would win. They thought they lost too much. Most people were picking Liberty and Westminster this year.

Preseason picks:
4 picked Liberty 2 picked Westminster 1 picked SC 1 picked FSK
Note on FSK - one person initially picked FSK, but changed to Liberty a couple months later still before the season started. The lone vote they have here is someone that picked them on Aug 22nd (and obviously had an insider knowledge of Haufler).
Therefore one could say, given what teams had coming back, nobody picked FSK to win (only when someone knew they had Haufler did they pick them) and most people actually picked Liberty.
FSK won.
Now people are saying Winters Mill. Not saying I don't think Winters Mill won't be a preseason pick to win, just saying the last few years being the team to beat didn't turn out so well.
