Not just on the forums I mean. A bunch of people who i know who don't get on the forums thought Key would win. And you don't know that the one guy knew about haufler, he could've just thought key had talent.

Actually, the guy said "X factor" and was referring to Haufler. Most of the people that choose Liberty were not connected to Liberty (one Westminster alumn and one westminster runner picked them), no Liberty runners picked themselves (in fact of all the voting, only two people choose their own team that they are most closely connected to).

Well a lot changed too. Neither Cross nor Liberatore ran at counties for Liberty. Then you add in Haufler, without him Westminster and FSK are very close in this meet.
The point of what I said is, you can't just move seniors out and move everybody up and expect that to be the way it will be. That hasn't worked the last few years, and it likely won't work again this year. If Winters Mill goes out and runs a good track season, and has a good summer, and has someone that steps up or is new, then they will be tough to beat. But a lot has to happen before that, and given past history, I would want to earn the title of county champ before being given the label favorite given what has happened to the favorites in the past.

Even with Cross and Libertore, would Liberty have won? And i definitely agree with the idea of all the things that could happen between now and then, but i think that WM has a big enough gap that a few things could happen and they'll still have the best team in the county.

"Note on FSK - one person initially picked FSK, but changed to Liberty a couple months later still before the season started. The lone vote they have here is someone that picked them on Aug 22nd (and obviously had an insider knowledge of Haufler).
Therefore one could say, given what teams had coming back, nobody picked FSK to win (only when someone knew they had Haufler did they pick them) and most people actually picked Liberty."~ CoachSpongeBob
I would just like to point out that i was the one who posted that FSK had Alex Haufler, but i didnt even vote on the team polls, meaning i didnt vote for FSK...

Actually,it wasn't based on a poll it was based on everybodies comments/post.
Everybody, please try to stay positive here and not downgrade people. I love that people are on here chatting, but we don't need to be bringing each other down. What I have loved about this county is how close we have kept, we push each other. We don't need another incident like that happened on mdrunning when a certain runner from one school made a bunch of comments that just got a lot of people upset (and consequently resulted in one team being very motivated all summer). Believe me, when you make those type of comments, you make you and your team look bad.
I don't want to over police things, but I did have to clean up a few things. I may have taken a few extra things off, and I'm sorry, I probably could have left it, but I know that it did anger a couple people already, and I don't want that.
Please keep the chatting up, but just don't bash each other. This site is here to hopefully promote this sport and showcase how hard you all are working. I trust you all, Carroll County is going to look great on Saturday (think 7 out of 7 boys team qualified for states, and 6 out of 7 girls teams made states!! - no other county did that well)
Good luck, and I look forward to states saturday, indoors, outdoors adn next year!!

I think everybody is missing one key thing. Winters Mill has been in the bottom of the county since the school opened. Now that their top 6 are sticking around, I think they will be more motivated to train hard and be top in the county, region and place high at states next year. Other teams might not be as motivated since they have been around a while. Winters Mill has something to prove to the county.

i dont think FSK should be at third. Yeah were loosing our top 3, but Alex Haufler is steepin' up big, along with DAvid watson, whoes not that far behind, followed by Tim DAvis, Alex's brother, Eric(undetermined) and a few other kids that really need to step up. i think the'll be a very interesting season next year but, if youre already thinking about next year, your heads' in the wrong place. if you didnt know states is saturday. (you said your an FSK fanatic right?)

Girls (based on mvals and regionals results - with grade levels listed it made it easy to see who was coming back):
4 of Century's top 5 are freshman. two others were sophomores.
SC loses Emily Powell and Anna Weaver, but bring back 5 of their top 7.
Westminster loses 3 of their top 6 including their #2 and #3.
Liberty is led by a freshman and sophomore, but their next three were seniors.
Winters Mill loses no one, 4 of their top 6 and 3 of their top 4 were freshman.
NC graduates 5 of their top 6 including Molly Donovan
I can not remember ever seeing so many freshman in the county results for our county. Usually you see more in the girls results then boys, but not this many. 7 of the top 11 finishers from the Blue Ridge Conference were freshman (all from Century, Liberty, Winters Mill and SC), while in the Chesapeake conference only 1 freshman finished in the top 20 (and Westminster, NC and FSK had no freshman on their varsity team)

Even though I am on Winters Mill's xc team i think the teams to beat are SC and Century for the girls even though I'm sure we'll be more experienced next year since us freshman know what to do now, so I think all of us will be pretty neck and neck.
