Which Senior is this?
We have a lot more depth in distance then we had indoors. I think we will have 4 guys running a faster 1600 time this outdoor season then our top 1600 time from last year. There is 7 to 8 guys I feel I could run on a good 4x8 team too.

We have a little more depth for the sprints. We added a few additions for outdoor, and should contend for the relays. I think the strongest one will be the 4x100.

Is it true that as girls get older they slow down (in most cases)?

You look at most of the top girls in Maryland and they seem to get better (Katie Hursey, Allison Smith, etc). Girls bodies do change in a way that does sometimes negatively effect them (honestly I think they just need to train differently to adapt to this, but most don't). I have had a number (more then half, probably 3/4) of girls that have gotten better each year. But you compare this to guys, were it seems 100% of guys get better.
That is my opinion at least.

Alright thanks. And why do you think as the world becomes more advance and as the years go on world record times and times in general have been decreasing? For example, Steve Prefontaine never broke 13 minutes for the 5k but i think he had an AR of 13 29 but now the world record for the 5k is around 12 27. He was one of the world's best back then but if he was competing now he would be nowhere close to the being in the top for the 5k.

advancements in everything. Just think about how much better the tracks are now (indoor tracks that have banked tracks, that can adjust how much it is banked). You have new faster surfaces. You have better shoes. Even the clothing they wear is better fit to run faster.
All of this adds to it. There is a million and one reasons why times are faster, and will continue to get faster. Doesn't mean that those now are faster then those back then.

Training and evolution are two factors - but like Coach, I believe technology has a lot to do with it. You would thinking running might be a sport spared from such influence but that's not the case. High-tech tracks (spongy surface, banked tracks), lightweight, more efficient shoe designs - and back in the day, no times were kept to the hundredths of a second like today.
Look at swimming for an obvious example. They have such high-tech suits that allow the water almost literally to ignore their bodies, lessen the waves - two less factors which in previous generations slowed a competitor. Pools now are designed to lessen waves - the lane separators, or whatever they're called, are made so that they reduce waves - thus limited a swimmer's otherwise natural opposition.
Football, too, to a limited extent. Never had turf stadiums back in my grandfather's day, right? Who can't run faster on turf than natural grass?
Baseball? Besides steroids, there's lots of science into how a baseball is made (and stored - ask the guys at Coors Field). Better bats (and let's not talk college aluminum bats) ...
In almost any sport, athletes have enjoyed a competitive advantage due to technological improvements. That said, it's a level playing field today just as it was in my grandfather's day - so long as we're all playing by the same rules.

Do you guys think we have any possible state champions in any events this year?

I would love to add a picture section to the site, but coaching I never have time to take pictures. I might have a Liberty parent that would be ok with me posting pictures - but the only problem is he takes mostly Liberty pictures, and I don't want it to be like that either. That is the only problem. The one thing I don't want to do is let this site be biased in any way. Cause then you all would not like it.
I am always open for suggestions, and maybe something can be figured out (maybe other people can send me pictures?)
As for state champs - we have 36 state champs - haha just kidding (those that didn't figure it out, there is 18 events in outdoor track, 18 x 2 is...)

I believe there is a nice man from Winters Mill who could photograph the county championships. I could look into it. But I know what you mean with biased pics.
